When to get an attorney

When should a person who is being questioned about a suspicious death get a lawyer. The cops come back and say if you will just take this test we can clear you.

Re: When to get an attorney

I highly recommend an attorney at every stage of the proceeding. The police's job is not to clear someone, but rather is to find enough evidence to bring a charge against someone. The D.A's job is then to prosecute. Be very careful when one of these parties promises to drop charges "if you just cooperate." You probably won't be experienced enough to know if the questions they are asking you is for the purpose of incriminating you.

You have one person on your side!!! Use them from the start!!!

NEVER talk to police without counsel. Their goal is to have you convict yourself.

Best advise is to always have counsel when discussing criminal or possibly criminal activity with the police.
