Legal Question in Criminal Law in California
What is the average cost for a criminal lawyer? And is it true that they only get paid if they win? Please advise.
Thanks

There is no way to answer your first question. A very well-established lawyer handling a large, complex murder case for a wealthy client might command a fee of a million dollars or more (think O.J. Simpson). A relatively inexperienced lawyer handling a routine misdemeanor might charge just a couple of thousand dollars. The rest will fall somewhere in between.
And no, criminal lawyers seldom -- if ever -- work on a contingency fee basis.
