background check for employment

After a conviction, how many years does it show up on background checks for employment purposes for misdemeanor? Is it 5 years or less?

You will not like my answer to this question. If an employer does the correct search they will find this misdemeanor conviction for years to come.

You have 2 choices: Hire someone to get an expungement which gives you an argument that you have never been convicted or, at least, a chance to explain you are now a different person and have taken steps to prove it or;

Do nothing and hope the employers do not find it.

I would suggest the first option as it is relatively inexpensive.

Your criminal history is not like your credit record, where bad marks fall off after a period of time. Convictions are permanent and will remain part of your history forever unless you have them expunged.

You might want to hire a criminal attorney to get your conviction expunged; it is not a complex task and should involve only a modest fee.
