Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

my brother has a bail set for 50,000 for vandilism and grand theft of personal property. He also has a 5,000 for theft tools. What is his jail time he would face if he is found guilty by the jury? He is pleading not guilty but they have evidence?

Without knowing the exact charges, it's impossible to tell how much time he is facing if convicted. The maximum for one count each of felony vandalism and grand theft is three years, eight months, but he might get far less, depending on the facts and his record.

He needs a lawyer next to him in court, not uninformed guesses from a stranger on the Internet. If he can't afford to hire his own lawyer, the judge will appoint one from the public defender's office.

Misdemeanors carry up to a year in jail, felonies carry at year or more in prison. If he doesn't have an attorney, he is being foolish. An experienced attorney can minimize the penalties in a plea bargain done correctly. If he is serious about hiring counsel, have him contact me. If he can't afford private counsel, apply to the Public Defender.
