Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

My brother is on parole. So when the cops search the house, they search the house except the two bed rooms that were locked. The cops put me in handcuffs for the fact that they found out that my brother was on parole. So one of the cops pad me down and grave my keys and ask me if these were the keys to the bed rooms. And I said yea, but I do not give you guys permission to search the rooms. So he just walked away with my keys. So after they search my room and my parents room, they found a gun that its my older brother but is register to him and had a lock and it was in a box, and in my closet. And two little baggies of coke that hardly had anything. So now they are charging me with, possation of a gun and narcatics. Can I get charge for that and go to jail??

Yes, they CAN charge you, and yes, you COULD go to jail. Will they? Will you? This is a complex situation and I would need to know much more information than you've given in order to answer those questions better. You need to have a consultation with an experienced criminal lawyer. Most lawyers give free consultations. I do. If you'd like to discuss this matter with me, please contact me at once. If you wish to contact me over this weekend, call me on my cell phone: 310 922 3983. Good luck. Steve Mandell

"Can you be charged and jailed"? Well, you have been, haven't you?

The only advice that is worth anything is for you to get legal counsel who knows how and what to do to best represent you, using whatever credible facts and evidence you may have for motions and defenses at trial, if necessary. Most cases are 'plea bargained' to avoid the risk of loss at trial and mandatory sentencing upon conviction.. The attorney's job is to get a good 'deal' you can live with, or prepare for trial. If serious about doing this right, feel free to contact me.
