Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

Ca State Law 490.5

I received a letter that my minor

daughter was apprehended for an

incident.

The letter stated ''Under CA State

Law 490.5 has a civil cause of action

against you because the above minor

intentionally deprived or intended to

deprive ____of merchandise without

paying.''

My daughter or I never signed

anything, the police were never

called. How is it possible that I have a

civil suit against me (they don't even

have my name) and are demanding

$250.00?

Your daughter must have been apprehended and provided the information. You will need to respond and defend, if your daughter did not do the crime of which she was accused.
