Legal Question in Criminal Law in California
California Penal Code 288.3
I have been notified that i have a
court date and that the DA is seeking
probation and a misdemeanor charge.
My question is if i plead guilty what
would the probation be, and what
would the reprocussions entail?

IF you have been charged with 288.3 you should not waste your time on the internet seeking advice from attorneys that do not know the specifics of your case. A guilty plea will change your life in more ways than you can image the least of which is the life time registering as a sex offender.
This is not the time to pinch pennies, spend the money and get a consultation with an experienced criminal defense attorney and find out what your options are. Good Luck

Do not be quick to plead guilty.
A conviction for violating Penal Code Section 288.3 carries with it a lifetime requirement to register as a sex offender. Unless you want to have to live in the desert and be on the Megan's List website, you had better get an experienced lawyer well in advance of your court date, and bring the lawyer to court with you. I strongly recommend that you not use the public defender.
Have no contact and do not speak to any police officer or anyone employed by the court or DA's office except through your own lawyer.
Re: California Penal Code 288.3
First of all - conviction requires lifetime sex offender registration. The terms of probation will probably limit your access to the internet, schools and parks, certain employment, not to mention search terms, etc.
In addition, it's priorable and can be used against you in the future to greatly increase punishment for similar offenses.
Don't jump on a plea deal. Talk to an attorney with experience in sex offense allegations.
Re: California Penal Code 288.3
288.3 is a felony carrying prison time and lifetime registration as a sex offender. An attorney may be able to use whatever defenses and facts you have to negotiate a plea bargain or take the case to trial. I suggest you get an attorney, and do not speak to anyone else about this, most especially the police, DA or investigators. If serious about doing so, and if this is in SoCal, feel free to contact me.
