can a convicted felon who's not on parole/probation carry a firearm for work ie: security guard

No, convicted felons are generally forbidden from owning or handling firearms. That right can be restored only upon making an appropriate motion to the court. It is not easy but in certain circumstances it can be done.

I think you are taking a great risk at this time. Penalty for felons owning guns can mean state prison.
