if you are caught with an unregistered firearm will it effect your legal stauts as a citizen?

Conviction of any felony or misdemeanor can result in deportation proceedings for non-citizens, in addition to all the jail and fines under the law for whatever crime they are charged with.. Citizens face the same charges and penalties, but can't lose their citizenship for any conviction.
