Legal Question in Criminal Law in California
charged with grand theft in ca. embezzeled 200,000 from a high school activity fund from 2005 to 2009 what is the prison term, no pryers, single mom with 2 kids
1 Answer from Attorneys
That depends entirely upon the charge[s] brought by the DA. You could face one charge, or numerous, each with at least a year in prison. Youll know the actual charges filed when you appear for arraignment at your first court hearing. The ONLY specific advice you should expect to get from here or elsewhere is to exercise your 5th Amendment rights to SHUT UP, hire an attorney, and do NOT talk to anyone except an attorney about the case. You face charges that could put in jail/prison, and most police and prosecutors will happily tell you that 95% of people convict themselves by trying to be 'helpful and cooperative'. Unless you know how to effectively represent yourself in court against a professional prosecutor intending to convict you, hire an attorney who does. If this is in SoCAL, and youre serious about hiring counsel, feel free to contact me.
