Legal Question in Criminal Law in California
If my child (age 17) is visiting the state of California, and gets arrested while in California for shoplifting what is the maximum punishment for this first time offense? what can i do as a parent, since im not in california with her? And i choose to do nothing at all then what will they do? Will they release her?

The 'child' faces potential jail time of 6 - 12 months, depending upon the charges, and no they will not 'release' her if by that you mean 'drop the charges'. She might be released from custody on OR, or by posting bail. If this is in Southern California courts, and if you are serious about getting her legal counsel, feel free to contact me.
