If you are a victim, contact the police AND a good attorney to represent you.
If you are being accused or charged, definitely hire a good attorney, immediately. You need to discuss the facts confidentially with him. The laws are quite severe in punishment and scope of the crime. The potential is for long jail time [with its own safety risks], and lifetime 'registered sex offender' status.
Yes, agencies talk to each other, of course. The process may not be perfect, but it works.

Thank you for your posting.
The laws surrounding child molestation are contained in Penal Code 288 and the surrounding statutes. If someone is accused, they are entitled to certain rights, including the right to fight the charges through a jury trial, and the right to be represented at trial by an attorney, as well as cross-examining witnesses. Agencies included may be, depending on the particular case, the Child Protective Services, Local DA task force, and the local police agency.

There are a number of laws concerning child molestation, including P.C. 290 which requires lifetime registration. Agencies DO typically talk to one another regarding these cases, in fact some are mandated reporters. Please call for further info at (800) 313-9619
