Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

child molester in a Day Care

The molester was employed with the facility but committed the act outside the facility. Was notified at our facility about allegation.

When do we inform the families? Do we wait til after the arrest?

What are my rights for protecting myself or the facility's reputation?

What direction should be taken after informing the clients.

What liabilities do I or may I not foresee at this time.

Re: child molester in a Day Care

The facility MUST immediately seek and get good legal help in this before doing or saying anything. If you don't know the laws that apply for your business, do NOT rely upon anonymous advice for a problem that could have enormous legal consequences and risks. No one on this board will or should give you specific advice, and generalities are of no value to you. Immediately contact business acquaintances and/or the local Lawyer Referral Service for names. If you can't find a local attorney, feel free to contact me; such issues have been a speciality of mine for over 20 years.
