Legal Question in Criminal Law in California
I was cited for selling alcohol to a minor at work, I did not card them. This is my first offense in my 19 years that I have worked at this store. I have a court date and I am very nervous. Should I have legal representation?

That's up to you to decide. Can you effectively represent yourself in court proceedings and hearings and trial against a professional prosecutor seeking to convict you? Such arrests are generally part of a 'sting' operation by the DA or other agency. You will be faced with a thoroughly prepared and documented criminal complaint filled with facts and laws broken. I suggest you require your employer hire an attorney for you, or hire one yourself. If you can't afford one, then apply for the Public Defender. Exercise your 5th Amendment right to SHUT UP, and speak to no one but your attorney.
Yes, you should always have legal representation, especially in a criminal matter.
