Legal Question in Criminal Law in California
When I became a citizen I was asked if I was a communist. I wasn't at the time, but I am starting to sympathize with the philosophy and am now one (Capitalism is good for Wall St. not so much for the rest). Is it illegal to be a Communist?

No, just ignorant of history, reality and human nature. This isn't the place for political instruction, but go read real history books and see if you can find a progressive/socialist/marxist government ever in history that has ever succeeded in being anything but an oppressive tyranny.
