Clearing up a warrant
An employer background check recently (last week) revealed an outstanding warrant, that I knew nothing about, issued in Torrance Superiour Court. From what I can gather it is a failure to appear warrant dating back to an incident that occured in May 2006, with a court date scheduled for 6/14/06. I have paperwork from my bail bondsman showing that I was scheduled to appear in Compton Superior Court on 6/15/06 for the same incident with no mention of the Torrance court date. I appeared in Compton, received an NCF stamp signed by the clerk, and returned to pick up an exoneration form on 7/3/06. From what I can gather, it appears that I was scheduled to appear in two courts on or about the same date. From my conversations with the clerks office, they are telling me that I need to write a letter to the judge or have an attorney appear on my behalf to get the warrant lifted. To complicate matters more, I currently live in Indiana, so going to court is a bit complicated. I need of some timely advice as my employer is giving me till 7/24/07 to clear the warrant up.

It appears from your question, you already know the answer. You need to hire a lawyer to take care of this for you. Only you or your lawyer can appear in court to address a warrant.

You already know the answer: since you are out of state, you need a local attorney to appear and 'clear it up'. Hopefully for you, there weren't really two different charges and cases.
