It depends on the terms of your probation. If you are a convicted felon, better get rid of your firearms and body armor.

Potential prison or jail time. If you are a 'prohibited person' because of any past felony conviction or other reason, you face potentially 10 years. Serious enough for you? If this is 'only' a probation violation, then you face jail time up to the amount of deferred sentence on the first conviction. If you are serious about getting legal counsel, feel free to contact me.

You really haven't provided enough information to give you any kind of accurate reply. What was your friend on probation for? does you friend have other convictions in their back-round and what are they? Has your friend ever been convicted of a felony? and When your friend was arrested was he carrying the firearm in a concealed manner? or did he brandish it? If your friend was prohibited from being in possession of a firearm as part of his probation he could be looking at some serious consequences. Your friend needs an attorney. This is a serious situation and needs to be treated as such.

Good luck
