Legal Question in Criminal Law in California
conspiracy
i am being charged for grand theft and conspiracy because a store employee i didnt know and never met marked down all the merchandise i purchased. i have no prior and i was not part of a conspiracy i just thought she was authorized to do the mark downs because she didnt need any manager approval. later i found out she was using other employees IDs. i have no priors what can i do? how much time can i service? is there a possibility that i dont get jail time and/or get my charges dropped or reduced to a misdeamor? please help?

This is what, the eighth or ninth time you've posted your question to LawGuru. You claim to be innocent, yet you signed a confession. If I were you I'd hang up from the Internet and call a lawyer.

What he said. You really need a lawyer who can go over the police report, conduct discovery, and tell you whether the prosecution has a strong or weak case and what defenses you have. If you don't qualify for the public defender, you should hire a private attorney.

You're not going to get any usable answer here other than advice to get an attorney to defend against the charges. You face potential jail time, so unless you're able to function effectively as your own attorney in court against an experienced prosecutor, hire someone who can.
