Legal Question in Criminal Law in California
Does this constitute prostitution/soliciting? Calling an escort and asking how much it costs to "hang out" for a half hour with no mention of sexual acts, agreeing on a price, then showing up and leaving money on the table, then engaging in sexual acts?

They could certainly have a case against you.
You'll get your actual, final answer at the end of the trial on this.
If you don't know how to represent yourself effectively against an experienced prosecutor intending to convict, then hire an attorney who does, who will try to get a dismissal, charge reduction, diversion, programs, or other decent outcome through motions, plea bargain, or take it to trial if appropriate. If serious about hiring counsel to help in this, and if this is in SoCal courts, feel free to contact me. Ill be happy to help fight and get the best outcome possible, using whatever defenses and sympathies there may be.
Yes, unless you were married to the "escort."
