Ex contract worker trying to collect from my corporations past clients
Regarding an ex 1099 worker that is calling our past clients and requesting payment for shows we did when they have already been paid. We are a mariachi band that is incorporated. She left on bad terms and is now calling clients from a year ago demanding payment for services that we rendered and she is saying she is still with the company. Is this a criminal matter?

If she is defrauding people of money not due her, or trying to, report this to the police and urge prosecution. You could also sue her, but do you really think you would be able to collect anything if you got a judgment? The threat of lawsuit would stop a reasonable person from doing this, so it may make sense to have an attorney contact her and explain her risks and liability. Contact me if interested in doing so.

contact the police department and report her conduct. Also contact your former customers and notify them of her conduct.
