Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

I was convicted of domestic violence in CA. I took the required domestic violence classes & my record was expunged. Can I carry a firearm? I served in the Air Force & would like to join the AF Reserve. I must be able to carry a firearm in order to join the Reserves.

No, you can't own or possess a firearm. But there is a legal challenge to this restriction in the courts.

NO! Under both federal and state law, any felony conviction, or any restraining order issued against you, makes you a person 'prohibited' for life from possessing firearms or ammunition. Expungement does not change that, and neither does reserve status. You will find the military can not accept you with a felony or a firearm restriction.
