Can a cop show up to your house and search everywhere without a court ordered warrant and if so, then when can they do so? On what circumstances?

Mr. Nelson is correct when you consent. Or when someone that lives there is on probation or parole, however there can be restrictions when one person is on probation or parole.

There are only three exceptions to the search warrant requirement. If you are on parole or probation with a search condition, if you consented, or if there was an emergency. If it was an emergency they are limited to seizing what was in plain sight. For example, if they are looking for a person, they cannot look inside dresser drawers.
