Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

I am curious to know how a 288(a) can be removed from a persons record and removed from the register? From a relationship that happened almost 20 years ago that was only started because of an angry mother. It was a BF GF situation where he just happened to turn 18 and she became pregnant.

Penal Code 288(a) is a lewd act with a child under 14. A conviction carries lifetime registration as a sex offender. It is also listed as a violent felony under Penal Code 667.5(a), which makes it a strike under the Three Strikes law.

The only way to terminate sex offender registration for this offense is a pardon, and the odds of winning the lottery are better than the chances of getting a pardon. Since 1991, California governors have pardoned a total of sixteen people.

Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has only granted three pardons during his years in office, and all three were to people who had been convicted of nonviolent drug offenses more than thirty years ago and had lived exemplary lives ever since. His predecessor, Gray Davis, did not pardon a single person during his five years in office.

It can't be. Apparently, no one ever explained to you that 'records are forever'. Some convictions, not this one, can be expunged, but even that does not 'remove' them, but merely changes the record to show 'conviction reversed and dismissed by expungement'.

I have successfully obtained pardons. It is a long and difficult process. It is worth it if you can afford it. Contact me directly.
