Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

i deposited several checks into my husbands account that were made out to an association that i am a director of. The association contacted me and said i did not have authorization to do so and they are having the oarties that wrote those checks file a check fruad report to their banks. They said that the bank can procute the account holder? Is this true? I do not want an officer to show up and arrest me or my husband? Nothing has happened as of yeat and it has been three days, but I am so scared of being arrested. Should i hire an attorney? I did not alter or endorce the checks in any way!

I deposited by accident, but after realizing i did so I did not come clean becuase i was embarreced. i handle my husband s deposit and deposited with other checks for him at the atm, HE IS NOT EVEN aware i HAVE DONE THIS. I do not want him in trouble. If the banck just debits the account that is fine! But i am afrrais this is a crime and my husband could face charges for something he was not even aware of. The Association will not tell me anythong, but that the parties that wrote the check are filing a check froud report with their bank.

You just admitted in your post to committing grand theft, and could be prosecuted for felonies. Mr. Wallin is right, get an attorney and say nothing to anyone but him.
