Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

Dismisal of Charges after Probation Complete

I was convicted of a felony and just got probation, i sucesfully completed my probation and when i went into court the final time the judge said that since the charge was so minor that he would do a termination, deduction and dismisal of charges on my case and that i needed to get a letter from my probation office for this. When i went to my probation office they had no idea of what he wanted and just blew me off. I want to find out how i go about getting these charges dimissed since he said he would do that....or at the very least get this felony reduced to a misterminor. Thank you.

You can have an attorney file the motion he was suggesting: to expunge the record. Probation dept seldom wants to cooperate in doing so. Contact me if interested in getting it done.

Unlike the other attorney, I have found that the probation department processes these requests with little problem. They do not however, go beyond the routine handling of these cases. The cost is minimal for this process. In Santa Clara County the charge was less than $100 the last time a filed a petition for a client.
