Dog bite

My dog bite this little girl about 8-10 yrlas old, she went into my house without my permission to play with my daughters, the mother never let me know her daughter was coming over, I assumed responsability and gave the mother money to pay for medical bills, she signed me receipts for the money, now after 3 months or so she is suing me

What can i do or what rights do I have?

Re: Dog bite

You have the right to defend yourself in the lawsuit. If you have homeowners insurance, turn it over to them for defense. If you have no insurance, you get to pay the defense costs. If she has an attorney, that means he thinks it is worth enough to justify suing. So, you should hire an attorney who is willing to try to settle this quickly and cheaply before you have to spend a fortune on legal fees, or risk a judgment against you. You have issues in your defense that can be raised. If you need to hire counsel, and are interested, contact me.
