Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

Domestic Battery / Spousal Battery

Hi, my friend was arrested for Domestic Battery / Spousal Battery, penal code 242-243e1. He went to jail and was charged but then released and was suppose to do domestic violence classes once a week, pay a fine and check be checking in. His charge was a misdeminor, he has no money, no car to complete these requirments. Now the courts are calling the house saying they have a warrent for his arrest so theyre looking for him telling him to turn himself in. Hes affraid of going to jail. He has his kids (they have no mother) and his kids will be without any one if he goes to jail. What is the best advice you can give in order for my friend to prevent jail time? He wants to do the right thing and turn himself but he is afraid for his kids.

Re: Domestic Battery / Spousal Battery

He either turns himself in, or gets arrested and taken to court the first time he comes in contact with police. If he can't afford an attorney, call the Public Defender's office.
