Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

Drug Diversion

I was arrested in the summer of 1987, I was 18. - It was for possession and under the influence of a controlled substance. I was eligible for drug diversion, which I finished and never got in any trouble ever again. I would like to know if a background investigation for employment would uncover this most unfortunate incident in my past. Thanks

Re: Drug Diversion

Contact the Department of Justice in Sacramento. For $25 bucks or so they will send you a copy of your criminal background information.

Re: Drug Diversion

Of course it will. However, you may be able to get the record expunged, and/or you may actually be able to get it sealed or destroyed, depending upon the charges you were convicted of. Feel free to contact me for the legal help you'll need in getting that done.

Re: Drug Diversion

Drug diversion if completed should have resulted in no conviction. The most that should show on your is an arrest. That should not be a problem for most employment. As was suggested you can check with the department of justice to see what is on your record.

You should try getting your conviction expunged.
