Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

Escorting with out a license lamc103.107.1

Placed an ad with the specific request that the person answering the ad would be dining at the(y). An Lapd officer answered the ad and once he arrived at my home kept asking me what else would he be getting. I don't do any thing else so he proceed to remove his shoes and handed me some money and said 240 right. I did not answer just said uhumm. He still proceeded to ask me what else was he getting and I said I think you and I are on the wrong page and I think you should leave. I handed him the money back and he put his shoes back on telling me I did not know what I was missing. I opened the door and 3 other officers entered and had cuffed me. I asked what I was being arrested for I did not do anything. The original officer came back and said I was being arrested for acting as an escort without a license. He then asked if I had a liscence. I said no. They took me down to the Pacific Div., booked me and then released me with an OR. Can they do this and what are the ramifications?

"Can they?" Well, they already did, didn't they?!

The "ramifications" are that you face criminal charges and jail time. If you don't know how to practice criminal defense law, they get an attorney that does.

Not clear from your question what your ad said or what services you expected to perform for $240. Can they arrest you and can the DA charge you? Sure! Will you be convicted and have a criminal record thereafter? Yes, unless you hire a private lawyer and fight the charges.

You need to learn not to talk to the police. Do not answer their questions except to say you want a lawyer.

It looks like you will be charged with attempted prostitution. However, your case could possibly be defended, if not dismissed. Your best bet is to get a lawyer involved, as soon as possible.
