Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

Expunge a Misdemeanor/Felony charge

I was charged with misdemeanor

vehicular manslaughter in 1990. I

satisfied the probation, etc, and would

like it to be expunged because

otherwise I can not enlist in the

military.

Re: Expunge a Misdemeanor/Felony charge

It looks like expungement of your case should be possible. You can try to do it yourself or hire an attorney. An attorney will normally charge you $500 - $1,000 plus small court filing fee.

While you absolutely should expunge your conviction as soon as possible, you need to double check whether it would make any difference for the military. I suspect they might treat an expunged and unexpunged conviction just the same and you would be required to disclose it just the same.

Contact me if serious about seeking expungment, as it may be possible to get your record cleared that way.
