Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

expunged/sealed felony record

In 1980, I had just turned 19 and was hanging out with an older crowd, They used me to pay this girls babysitter with a check that they gave me...it was stolen unbeknownst to be. When I found out turned myself in. I was convicted of 3 felonies(ading and abeting, fraud and possession of stolen property. I was sentenced to 45 days in the county jail, 15 off for good behavior. In 1989, I went back , the Judge was very happy for me and he sealed my record.(never been in trouble or even traffic violations since and). Can I legally own a fire arm?

No. Not unless you obtain a court order specifically restoring your rights under state and federal law. It can be done, maybe. Feel free to contact me if seriously interested in pursuing this. One of my specialities is 2nd Amendment rights and restoration.

If the penal code sections can be charged as either a felony or misdemeanor you can have the charges reduced to misdemeanor's under the provisions of penal code section 17. The convictions then become misdemeanors for all purposes. That may have been done when the judge sealed your record. Check the court file. If the file is still available.
