Legal Question in Criminal Law in California
Expungement
I have over 9 cases that are misdemeanors and felonies in the county of San Diego. I currenlty reside in the county of Imperial. I would like to know if it's possible to expungement my criminal record so that I won't hinder me in the future when I apply for a teaching credential. What are your thoughts and suggestions.

Re: Expungement
Sounds like someone needs to examine your record to see what can or cannot be expunged. When there is lots of convictions, expunging them all might be a tall order. Another issue is whether some of your felonies can be reduced to misdemeanors, regardless of the expungement issue. You need a lawyer on this one for sure. He/she does not have to reside in San Diego to get it done. Feel free to call me for a free consultation.

Re: Expungement
"won't hinder you"? Nice try. Even if you can get some or all of them expunged, and that MAY be possible, you'll have to disclose each conviction and expungment on your application for any government licensing, credential, bonding, background check, security clearance, and for jobs in schools, hospitals, child care, elder care, government, political office, etc., etc. Expungement does NOT magically make your record disappear, nothing does. Records are FOREVER. Expungement allows you to say 'no' to conviction on most private employment applications. Now, it you are serious about trying for expungments, feel free to contact me to discuss whether you and the crimes qualify for it, and the costs of doing this.
Re: Expungement
Your application for teaching credentials will be denied. An expungement does not hide your criminal record from State licensing authorities. After reviewing the charges I will be able to tell you what can be expunged. For more on expungement visit my website.
Good luck
