Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

expungement of record

In 1994 I was convicted of manfuacturing of drugs. I have since served my time and completed probation, I have no other arrest or anything since.

Can I get this expunged?

What Do I need to do?

Also I would like to do this myself.

Re: expungement of record

Yes, it is possible, but not guaranteed. If you served only local county jail time, and successfully satisfied all probation terms, and have no further convictions, it is. However, if you served state prison time, expungement is not generally possible; you would have to seek restoration of rights, which is more difficult. You could also seek pardon, but it is seldom granted. Contact me if you qualify for expungement, to discuss the facts and costs.

If your conviction was a misdemeanor, you may have it expunged. A felony conviction is more problematic. Good luck.
