falsely acussed

my cousin was parked with 2 of his buddies in front of my parents home. He ran from the police and was cought down the block with a moderate amount of drugs and money. Meanwhile, the 2 buddies got away in their car. The problem is that I looked over the police report and the police report states that I am one of the 2 suspects that got away. The officer says he ran the adress, found people that where registered at the adress with past police records, my picture came up and according to him he positivley identified me. When in fact I was not even home when this happened! What should I do to correct this false accusation and have my name deleted from the report?

Nothing. Nice try. Police reports don't get 'changed'. If you are accused and charged with a crime, get a criminal defense attorney to fight it, using whatever admissible evidence you may have.

There really isnt anything that you can do to change the police report. However, you may wish to hire a criminal defense attorney to represent you during the investigation or pre-charge.

There is only one thing you can do. Get a good lawyer as soon as possible to intervene in the investigation and get any pending charges against you dismissed prior to any court dates. This is the best as well as the cheapest solution for you. Once charges are filed and court appearances become necessary, legal representation will cost you significantly more.

This is one of those situations where having a lawyer involved early could make a dramatic difference.
