Legal Question in Criminal Law in California
Federal anti pornography statute
The movie ''The Reader'' depicts sexual relations between a 15 year old boy and a 30 year old woman. Isn't that a violation of of the federal statute.

No. The actor who played the boy was over 18 when they filmed those scenes. That he was pretending to be 15 does not matter, since only actual footage of minors is forbidden. (The statute does not say this, but the courts have made it clear that simulated depictions of sex involving minors are not covered.)

Sure, if it was actually a minor, but when have Hollywood liberals ever cared about morals or the law?
