Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

Several felonies reduced to misdemeaners

I have more than 10 less than 20 prior felony convictions. I was sentenced to prison for one of them, which I understand cannot ever be reduced. I have successfully completed all requirements of time and probation. What is the likelihood of getting so many felonies reduced and would I have to go broke doing so? Is it possible to get them all done together? None are violent crime felonies. Also, would it be worth my while to expunge all but one, if all this is even possible? Thank You.

Re: Several felonies reduced to misdemeaners

After the earliest one, each new one probably violated the probation terms of all the earlier ones. Expungement of a conviction normally requires you have no new charges after conviction. Maybe if all these were a 'long' time ago, with clean record for a long time, you might convince the judge(s) to do this. Every court and every conviction is different, requiring a seperate motion procedure for each. Yes, it would take a 'bit' of money to do. Contact me if interested in trying it, and if getting only some off your record would help you.

Penal code section 17 provides tha authority for the court to reduce certain felonies t misdemeanors. Those felonies for which they may be charged as a misdemeanor or a felony, are misdemeanor's if the defednand is sentenced to the misdemeanor sentence.

The probattion department of each county in which the conviction occurred. The probation department will have a form to fill out and submit to have a conviction reduced to a misdemeanor, if possible, and then the guilty plea withdrawn or the conviction set aside.
