Residential burglary is a serious charge; it is a strike. To charges require a showing of some criminal intent to commit a crime inside, such as to steal something, for example.

If you have a good explanation for why you were inside without any criminal intent, you would be guilty of trespass only. However, you need a good lawyer to represent you effectively.
