retain an attorney in the court jurisdiction.
If it is a felony warrant, you will have to go to court to 'appear' in person. Sorry. With your attorney at your side, the judge is more likely to NOT take you into custody. If it is a misdemeanor warrant, your attorney can appear in court without you, and work out whatever 'deal' is possible. Either way, 20 year old charges are likely to ultimately get dropped or at least a 'good deal' offered you, since the prosecutor would have great trouble prosecuting such an old case.
