Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

Forging of signature on lease/rental agreement

While away on personal business my domestic partner forged my signature to lease out a new apartment with out my consent. I had to go to east coast Jan 28th and he signed Feb 1st.....Is the lease binding on me?

Second he used and authorized my credit card to be used without my consent while I was away.

Also, he forged my signature on a personal check that was given to me..

I realize this is tricky waters..however because he signed the lease w/out my consent...and moved out of old unit into new ..while I was away...is tha legal and am I liable? Help!!!

Forging of signature on lease/rental agreement

Your domestic partner committed fraud, larceny7and possibly identity theft.

You are not bound by anything your domestic partner signed or did in your behalf, unless you either authorize or excuse it.

If you do not act promptly, you can be deemed to have authorized the conduct. To protect youself, you must inform those involved that the conduct was not done in your behalf. You need to call each, and also notice each in writing.

This conduct is also reportable as a crime to the local police department.

He can be arrested, and you probably can avoid the lease and other debts, unless you authorized him to sign.
