Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

Forgotton Ticket, Need Help!

I totally forgot about a traffic citation I received in the parking lot at Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego prior to a football game in 2001. I was living in Las Vegas at the time and I had full intentions of dealing with it at the time, but I forgot. I would assume that there is a bench warrant out for me. How can I deal with this with the least amount of

potential penalty and least expense?

Violations:

23225 CVC: Passenger with open container

23116(a) CVC: Passenger in bed of pickup

What happend was that we were going to meet some friends before the game but were in the wrong section of the parking lot. Our friends were 200yds away, so my frind just hopped in the back of the truck to hitch a ride. Cop stopped me, I was very polite and cooperative and apologized

for my mistake. I hadn't been drinking, in fact, I was the DD. I knew better than to do this on city streets, but since we were in the parking lot and only going a short distance, I figured it was no big deal. How wrong I was... Had I dealt with this at the proper time, it probably wouldn't have been all that severe. But now...

You or your attorney will have to appear in the court with the warrant. An attorney will usually be able to persuade the court to reduce the fines and jail possible down to manageable payments, resulting in a net savings to you compared to the outstanding amounts. You risk arrest if this is not corrected. If interested contact me.

Thanks for your posting.

You likely do have a warrant for not responding. As you might expect, whenever there is a warrant out, you should act as quickly as possible.

Warrants can only be cleared by you or an attorney. As Mr. Nelson indicated, attorneys often do, succesfully, clear up warrants for traffic and other matters, clear up the failure to appear with a good excuse, and minimize the effect, such as fines, on you.

I have many other cases in San Diego, and I'd be happy to check on this, or help you out with this for you. Hope this helps, and I invite you to email me directly at [email protected].
