Legal Question in Criminal Law in California
I just found out that my company has sneaked in a coworker on a military base with a false ID badge to work on construction. This coworker is a felon. Am I obligated to report this to authorities to avoid being charged for misprision of felony?

I would immediately report the matter to the base security police. I don't know whether you are legally required to do this, but it's the right thing to do. This could also be a violation of the False Claims Act. If you are aware that the contractor is submitting false documents to the government, and this certainly qualifies, then you could be eligible under federal law for a large cash bounty. I would very much like to hear from you, especially if you know of any other false documents or claims being submitted by this contractor. Do not tell ANYBODY ELSE except some other attorney that you might consult. If you would like me to contact the base security police on your behalf, on a 100% confidential basis, please feel free to call me anytime.
I'd say you were morally and patriotically obligated to report this to the base, FBI and other appropriate agencies. You can do so anonymously if desired, but could instead consider a False Claims Act lawsuit. IF you are retaliated against for any reason, or to pursue a case, definitely call me to discuss the lawsuit that would give you..
