Legal Question in Criminal Law in California
Fraud Case
I have taken over one million dollars from my employer(an investment bank) illegally. What am I facing in terms of jail time? I won't be able to recover any of the money.

Re: Fraud Case
The obvious answer is 'jail time'. That's what happens in serious felonies. There are determinate sentencing standards in state and federal courts. Your attorney's job is to negotiate a plea bargain to a reduced charge with reduced/no jail and other penalties. All that is based upon the available facts, evidence, harm done, sympathy issues, etc. Feel free to contact me if serious about getting the legal help you'll need, if the case is in Southern California courts.
Re: Fraud Case
The answer depends on how you did it and what charges are brought. You could be charged with federal crimes, state crimes or both. Without more information I can't say what the charges might be or how many counts of each you might face, let alone what the eventual sentence would be if you are found guilty as charged. It's safe to assume that you are facing at least a few years in prison and probably more.
You need competent defense counsel right away. Your best bet is probably to negotiate a deal, and a good lawyer will be able to vigorously represent your interests in these negotiations.
