Legal Question in Criminal Law in California
government jobs
I was charged with a felony DEJ almost 7 years ago (11359), and I believe the court said that if i complete the drug program, it would be erased. I am not too familiar with the details on that. I just recently graduated with a BA degree, and i wanted to work for the government. Is the felony on my still on my record? What can i do to get it erased if possible? What are my options?

Re: government jobs
If your case was not dismissed upon completion, then your conviction could still be expunged by appropriate motion to the court. Feel free to contact me if serious about pursuing this. You should contact the court to determine the actual status, so that you and your attorney can then figure out what needs to be done. You need to understand though, all convictions, expunged or not, would have to be disclosed for professional certifications, bonding, security clearances, etc. Records are forever, expungement only helps with private employment applications.
Re: government jobs
Best guess is that most state and local government jobs won't care.
The feds will care, as will the police academy. But you could yet qualify, go for it.
