It's up to you whether to hire her an attorney. Is she educated and experienced in conducting criminal defense litigation? She would be going up against a professional prosecutor trying to put her in jail. The call is yours.

Re: grand theft

The simple answer to your question is YES. Your daughter needs an attorney immediately. The District Attorney is not going to do anything to help your daughter and you and she need to know, understand and trust the options available. You will only get this information from your own attorney. The attorney will be able to evaluate the evidence against your daughter and determine your best course of action. Do yourself and your daughter a favor and hire an attorney as soon as you can. Good Luck

Re: grand theft

The short answer is yes. Even as a juvenile, a theft conviction on her record can have lasting effects.

She may be required to disclose it on job applications, student loan applications and for any professional license she wants to seek.

An attorney can try and protect your daughter. There may be legal defenses as well as trying to get the charges dismissed, reduced or a diversion program.
