Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

My grandfather is being accused of molesting a child. There is no proof of this, it's the child's word against my grandfather's. Can my grandfather still be arrested? What are his rights?

The child's statement is evidence. If the police believe the child is telling the truth, then they can arrest your grandfather on that basis. Many molestation cases are based on the child's statement alone, and many of those cases result in convictions.

Your grandfather has the same rights as anyone else accused of a crime, including the right to a lawyer. Explaining all of his rights is far beyond the scope of what this website offers.

He could end up in prison. Have him get a good attorney immediately. His rights are to say NOTHING to anyone except his attorney.
