Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

Guilty by association?

If, at the request of a friend, I took him to a store and he ended up stealing things..I never entered the store and didnt know that he was planning on stealing...I spoke to police and they gave him a ticket..now I'm being charged with 2nd degree commercial burglary...what should I do? Can they charge me with this/anything?

Re: Guilty by association?

Thanks for your posting. What you should do, to be honest, is get an attorney to defend you.

You are not the first person to be wrongfully accused of something you did not do, and I can only assume from what you've stated (and not seeing the police report or criminal complaint), that the prosecution is proceeding under a theory that you were in a conspiracy with this person.

CAN THEY? -- they already did. Do you have any defenses? -- probably. Is the other person accusing you of being involved, to cut himself a deal? You need a good attorney, and soon. Contact me if interested.
