Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

I helped someone for months financially he promised to pay me back when he got a settlement and did not. He owes me 20,000+ He also got caught with my bank card because the fraud dept of my bank texted me and i asked them where my money was spent. they told me the address of the casino and i went and got it from him. His roommate told me he did it more than once and we got him to admit it, He just said "I should of took more"! I know of one other time he took it, now that i look back on it. I cannot believe that he did this to me. he owes me over $20,000 I have never given him my card. ever ! What do I do.??

File a police report and try to persuade the police and DA to prosecute him for the crimes. Begin preparing a lawsuit through a local attorney, if that is practical under his financial circumstances.
