If you were 'not convicted', there is no conviction to 'take off'. Arrest records with the police, and charge records with the courts, are forever. They are maintained forever in the federal and state criminal databases. That's what a 'rap sheet' is. That is one of the consequences of poor choices of conduct and actions; you don't get 'do overs' or clear records. If you actually have a conviction, and if it was a felony there was no prison time sentenced, and if it was not for sex crimes, then you might be eligible to have it 'expunged' so you can legally say 'no' to conviction on most private employment applications. If there really was no conviction, you might be able to get your record 'sealed' by proper motion to the court. In either case, if you're serious about getting legal help doing so, feel free to contact me.
