Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

Holding a company vehicle for evidence

In the state of California, if someone is arrested in a drug sting and the police impound the company vehicle as evidence, how long can they hold the car? When can the company get the vehicle back? Who is responsible for the impound fees? Thank you for any advice you can offer regarding this situation

Who said you get it back? Drug arrests can and do result in asset forfeiture of vehicles involved. That's part of what has to be dealt with in your attorney's defense of the charges.

The state could have the car forfeited permanently. However, it is possible to fight forfeiture in certain situations especially when the owner is some innocent third party.

If there is no forfeiture action, it could be possible to get the car back at the conclusion of the criminal case.
