Legal Question in Criminal Law in California
my husband is bieng charged with a misdemeanor vandalism under $4oo and it says that he must submitt to a booking process..does that mean he is going to jail when he shows up for court??? he is our familys sole provider....he doesnt have any priors

He is charged with a crime, and must go through the booking and bail system, to provide photo, fingerprints, DNA, etc, for entry into the DOJ criminal records database. Whether he goes to jail initially depends upon whether OR or bail is imposed. Given the facts, it is unlikely they will take him into custody and jail at the booking. Later, jail may or may not be part of his sentence if convicted. He should consider hiring a local criminal defense attorney. The charges are 'minor' and should result in no jail time since he has no priors. No guarantees though.
Booking means his prints, mugshots, and DNA get taken.
